Salmon is one of the healthiest fishes in the world. But, despite its high nutritional content, it’s not as well known that it’s also an excellent source of protein. You can find plenty of recipes to make at home that use it. This short salmon belly recipe is a good example of one of these. It uses the skin of the fish, which adds tons of flavor and nutrients. I like to make this recipe with the skin on, but it’s also good with skin off.
Today I am going to share with you a salmon belly recipe that is super delicious. This recipe is one of my all-time favourite appetizers. The recipe is perfect for entertaining or being served at a dinner party. It is best to eat salmon belly on a rainy day or cold weather. You can feel warm and cosy when drinking this hot and sour broth. This dish is usually served with a cup of white rice and a condiment made up of crushed spicy chili peppers and fish sauce.
Salmon is one of the healthiest foods you can eat. It’s also a product of nature and is therefore quite naturally packed with nutrients. Salmon is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which are thought to improve your heart health. The omega 3 fatty acids in salmon are important for a healthy nervous system and for brain function, so this is another good reason to eat more salmon.

Ingredients
- Salmon belly (rinsed and patted dry), 500 grams
- Fish sauce, 2 tablespoons
- Oil, 1 tablespoon
- 2 Garlic cloves (minced)
- Fresh ginger (minced), 1/2 teaspoon
- Tumeric (heaping), 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili flakes, 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili powder or cayenne powder (optional), 1/4 teaspoon
- Cilantro (coarsely chopped), 1/2 cup
- Fresh dill (coarsely chopped), 1/2 cup
Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the salmon belly with cold water, then pat it dry. Place aside.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients. Taste and adjust as needed for flavor balance.
Step 3
Add salmon and gently toss. Marinate for 20-30 minutes. While the salmon is marinating, get out the rice maker and prepare some bok choy or guy lan for boiling.
Step 4
Fry the salmon on low-medium heat until it is done, flipping halfway. Fry in batches.
Step 5
Placing them in a Pyrex container with paper towel lining twice is a good idea. The salmon will release large amounts of oil. It’s best to cook at a low temperature for a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
