- Ground chuck – ground for chili , 4 pounds
- Water, 3 1/4 cups
- Tomato sauce , 16 oz
- Yellow onions (chopped), 1 1/2 cups
- Cooking oil, 1 tablespoon
- Water, 1 cup
- Masa harina , 1 tablespoon
Instructions
Step 1
Combine the chili spice ingredients in a small bowl and mix thoroughly.
Step 2
Place a 6-quart stockpot on medium heat. Allow the meat to brown in the stockpot. If desired, drain the meat.
Step 3
Stir together chili spice mix, 3 1/4 cups water, and tomato sauce in a bowl while the meat is browning. Mix well.
Step 4
Pour the chili seasoning liquid over the browned meat. Bring to a boil while stirring constantly.
Step 5
Add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil to a skillet and saute onions until translucent.
Step 6
Add the onions to the chili. Cook on low for an hour while stirring every 15 minutes.
Step 7
Add one cup of water to a bowl and mix in masa flour. Combine well.
Step 8
