- Chopped onion, ½ cup
- Minced garlic, 1 tbsp
- Mexican blend cheese, 8 ounces (shredded, reserve 4 oz for topping)

Instructions
Step 1:
Place 1 ½ lbs of ground beef evenly in a Dutch oven. Brown the beef and then transfer on a plate lined with paper towels.
Step 2:
Drain off the excess moisture and reserve 2 tbsp of fat from the ground beef.
Step 3:
Add ½ cups of chopped onion, 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, and the reserved moisture to a frying pan.
Step 4:
Saute the onions and garlic over medium heat until translucent and soft.
Step 5:
Return the cooked beef to the pan, along with the vegetables.
Step 6:
Add the spaghetti sauce, kidney beans, and 1 ¼ ounce or 3 tablespoons of chili seasoning mix.
Step 7:
Stir the mixture for 3 to 5 minutes, then transfer it to a plate, leaving a small amount of chili mixture in the pan.
Step 8:
Spread the leftover chili evenly over the tortilla chips, then add the Mexican blend cheese. Continue layering until you run out of chili mixture.
Step 9:
Top with the casserole crush and reserved cheese.
Step 10:
Cover the casserole with an oven-proof lid, and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes.
Step 11:
