Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast – thinly sliced, about ¼ inch thick
  • 1½ cups green beans – cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 cup white onions – chopped, about ⅓ of a large white onion
  • 2 Tablespoons avocado oil
  • Chicken Marinade
  • 1 Tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1½ Tablespoons Shaoxing wine
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon brown sugar

Sauce

  • 3 Tablespoons chicken stock
  • 1 Tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 2 teaspoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1½ teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese black vinegar 
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic – minced
  • ¾ teaspoon ginger-grated

Optional – Add ONE of the following to the sauce if you want it spicy

  • 1 – 2 teaspoons Lao Gan Ma Spicy Chili Crisp 
  • 1 – 2 teaspoons Sambal chili paste
  • 1 – 2 teaspoons hot chili oil
  • ½ teaspoon Thai chili pepper flakes 

Step By Step Instructions To Make Panda Express String Bean Chicken

Step 1

Combine the marinade ingredients and thinly sliced the chicken breast in a medium bowl. 

Step 2

For best results, marinate this for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator. 

Step 3

Meanwhile, prepare the other ingredients while this sits.

Step 4

Prepare the sauce by mixing all the ingredients in a bowl.

Put oil in a wok or pan and heat over high heat. Lay the chicken in a single layer on the hot pan when the pan is hot – do not add the marinade yet. 

Step 6

Make sure you don’t crowd the pan when searing chicken pieces and leave them alone until golden brown, anywhere from 30 seconds to one minute. Repeat the process with the other side of the chicken. Take the chicken out of the pan.

Step 7

Adding the white onions and green beans to the pan will allow them to cook for two to three minutes. Add the chicken back in and lower the heat to medium.

Step 9

After adding the sauce, stir it before adding it as it will settle due to cornstarch. If you want less sauce, use about half. Until the sauce has thickened, saute everything for 1 to 2 minutes. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Serve right away.

Instructions
 

  • Lightly flour a surface and lay out one sheet of pie dough. Put the second pie dough sheet directly on top of the first. Lightly beat 1 egg and brush it on the dough. 
  • Roll out the double layer of dough into a 12-inch circle. Put the mixture into a pie plate 9 inches in diameter. Use your fingers or a fork to crimp the overhanging dough.
  • Apply more egg beaten to the edge. Let the mixture sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  • Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover the crust with foil, then fill it with dried beans or pie weights. Bake for about 15 minutes or until lightly golden around the edge.
  • Remove the foil and weights and continue baking for about 5 more minutes or until the bottom of the crust is dry. Then, transfer it to a rack and let it cool completely.
  • For the filling: Combine the cranberries, 3/4 cup sugar, and lemon zest in a large bowl. Once the crust has cooled, spread it with the filling.
  • Combine the remaining 2 eggs, heavy cream, flour and 1/4 cup sugar in a bowl; pour over the cranberries.
  • Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour, or until the filling is set and slightly puffed. Allow to cool completely on a rack. Sprinkle confectioners' sugar over the top. Enjoy!
