Ingredients
- Green beans, 8 oz.
- yellow onion (finely chopped), 1 cup
- Bacon (finely diced), ¼ cup
- Water, 1 cup
- Kosher salt, ½ teaspoon
- Freshly ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon
- Extra virgin olive oil, 1 tbsp
- Red bell pepper (finely chopped), ¼ cup
- Garlic powder, 1 teaspoon
Instructions
Step 1
Pour 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil into a medium-sized saucepan and heat on medium-low.
Step 2
Add 1 cup of finely chopped yellow onion, 1/4 cup of finely chopped red bell pepper, and 1/4 cup of finely diced bacon when the extra virgin olive oil is warm. Stir occasionally while sauteing over medium heat.
Step 3
Next, add one cup of water and cook for an additional three to five minutes. Add 8 oz of green beans after the water is about to boil. Stir well.
Step 4
Add 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of kosher salt and 1 tsp of freshly ground black pepper to the mixture.
Step 5
After 7 minutes of cooking, remove from the heat. Garnish with bacon beans. That’s my favourite method, but you can do this however you like.
