Ingredients

  • Halibut Fillet, 4 
  • Onion, 1 Large (sliced thin)
  • Butter, 1 TBSP 
  • Mayonnaise, 1/2 cup 
  • Sour Cream, 1/2 cup 
  • Lemon, 1 (zested and juiced)                
  • Garlic Clove, 1 (minced)
  • Dijon Mustard, 2 tsp 
  • Shakes of Tabasco, 3-4 
  • Kosher Salt, to taste
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper, to taste
  • Bread Crumbs, 1 cup 
  • Chopped Parsley, ¼ cup (divided)
  • Unsalted Butter, ¼ cup (melted)

Instructions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Preparation can be done in a 10 in cast iron skillet or an 8 x 8 casserole dish.

Step 2

A large skillet should be heated over medium heat with 1 tablespoon butter. Slice the onions and place them in the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Stir often as they become soft and caramelized, about 5-10 minutes. Remove them from the heat and let them cool.

Step 3

In a medium bowl combine mayonnaise, sour cream, 1 tbsp lemon zest, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, and tabasco sauce, stirring well.

Step 4

Combine the bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons parsley, and melted butter in a separate bowl.

Step 5

In the prepared casserole dish or cast-iron skillet, arrange the sauteed onions. On top of the onions, add the halibut fillets. Sprinkle it with salt and pepper.

Step 6

The mayonnaise mixture should be evenly spread over the halibut fillets. Spread the bread crumbs on top of the mayonnaise mixture. Bake the halibut in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until it reaches 140 degrees F. If necessary, broil the topping to your liking. Enjoy!
