Ingredients
Cornstarch –– 1 teaspoon
Low sodium beef broth –– 1/2 cup
Olive oil —- 2 teaspoons
Small sweet onion –– 1 diced
Small green bell pepper —– 1 diced
Mushrooms —- 4 ounces chopped
Lean ground beef —- 1 pound
Ketchup —- 2 tablespoons
Worcestershire sauce -— 2 tablespoons
Taco seasoning — 2 tablespoons
Salt – 1/4 teaspoon
Black pepper —1/4 teaspoon
Shredded sharp white cheddar ––1 & 1/2 cups
Hamburger buns —- 4,6
Instructions
Step No 1:
First things first, go ahead and preheat the broiler.
Step No 2:
In a small bowl, just whisk the cornstarch and broth together. Set it aside for now.
Step No 3:
Heat the oil in a big nonstick skillet on medium-high. Toss in the onion, peppers, and mushrooms; cook for about 3 minutes until tender. Then, add the beef and keep cooking, breaking it up and browning for another 3 minutes. Remember to drain off the fat.
Step No 4:
Mix in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, taco seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Step No 5:
Stir the broth and cornstarch together, then pour it into the skillet. Let it simmer for around 3 minutes, stirring it now and then until it thickens slightly.
Step No 6:
Spoon some mixture onto buns, sprinkle 1/4 cup cheese on top, and pop it under the broiler until the cheese melts—just watch closely to avoid burning! (You can also mix the cheese in with the meat until it’s all melty and combined.)
Step No 7:
Enjoy it warm with some chips!
