Recipe Notes

  • For authentic taste, use good quality Italian bread and make sure that it is not soft bread, rather it should be the original Italian bread.
  • As an option, you can buy a rustic Italian boule. But this is not compulsory as you can also choose any other genuine Italian bread that you find easy to slice and delicious.
  • If Cannellini Beans are not available, you can use great northern beans instead. Even these are not available? Or you do not like them? No worries, use any simple white beans of your liking.
  • Instead of canned Cannellini Beans, you can also buy the dry ones and cook them yourself.

FAQs

How is Bruschetta made traditionally in Italy?

Regardless of the variations, the basic and traditional bruschetta includes toasting the Italian bread with olive oil and then rubbing the garlic cloves on the slices.

At the end, some salt is also added. However, it has now evolved as people add the toppings of their liking to the bruschetta.

Can I add minced garlic as a spread rather than rubbing it?

Minced garlic is not a good option in this recipe. You only need to have the slight hints of aroma and flavor of garlic. So just rub it on the bread slices.

How are bruschetta and crostini different from each other?

Bruschetta is made by toasting the traditional style of Italian bread. While in crostini the bread used is not rustic. It is more closely related to the white bread.
