Prime rib is a delicious cut of beef that has been slowly cooked and given plenty of time for those succulent juices to come out. This recipe will show you how to cook prime ribs on your Traeger grill so that you can enjoy them this season!

The Traeger prime rib recipe is a traditional dish people love to make during the holidays and special occasions. It’s actually pretty simple, especially when you have a slow cooker! I’ll even include my own homemade au jus because it just wouldn’t be prime rib without that savoury flavour. 

One of my favourite meals to make is prime rib. It’s not one of the easiest things to do but it can be made in a little time with some planning and patience. I like having it on special occasions because that makes it taste even better, but if you’re feeling really ambitious, this recipe will work for any day!

How To Make Traeger Prime Rib

Prime rib is a delicious meal to make for your family and friends. This is a prime rib recipe that will make you the star of your next dinner party. With just four ingredients, this dish is easy enough to throw together on any night of the week. This dish takes time and patience to make, but the end result will be well worth it. Keep reading to find out how you can make this recipe at home!

Ingredients

  • Prime rib (4 bones), 9 pound
  • Prime rib rub (Traeger brand), 4 tablespoon
  • Saskatchewan rub (Traeger brand), 4 tablespoon
  • Kosher Salt, 2 cups
  • Garlic powder, 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper, 1 tablespoon
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

Step 1

Rub the rib with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and half the seasonings the night before, and wrap in foil.

Step 2

Prepare a salt and seasoning paste the next morning. Place paste on fat cap. Let the prime rib stand for 2 hours before cooking.

Step 3

Set the Traeger grill to 300 degrees and cook the prime rib fat side up for 1 hour. Switch the Traeger to smoke mode and cook for 2-3 1/2 hours.

Step 4

Increase the temperature to 300°F for 10 minutes, 400°F for 10 minutes, and 300°F until you are done. Remove at 125 °F.

Step 5

Before resting, take out the salt. Wrap in foil and towels. Rest for half an hour or until 145 degrees. Serve!
