Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Tamper (optional but helpful)
  • Wide shallow bowl
  • Rubber spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

Smoothie Bowl Base

  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt full-fat or 2% for best creaminess
  • 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder approx. 30g; plant-based protein works too
  • 1/2 cup pure pumpkin purée 100% canned pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling
  • 1 medium banana peeled, sliced, and fully frozen overnight
  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2–3 tbsp unsweetened almond milk or any milk; add only as needed for blending
  • 1 tsp pure maple syrup optional, to taste

Toppings

  • 1/3 cup oat granola low-sugar variety preferred
  • 1/4 banana fresh, sliced
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds raw or toasted
  • 1 tbsp almond butter optional drizzle
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

Blend the Base

  • Place the frozen banana slices, Greek yogurt, pumpkin purée, vanilla whey protein powder, pumpkin pie spice, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract into a high-powered blender.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of almond milk to start. Blend on high, using a tamper if available, until completely smooth and very thick. Add a third tablespoon of milk only if the blender struggles — you want a texture thicker than a regular smoothie.
  • Taste the base and add maple syrup if desired. Blend briefly to combine.

Assemble the Bowl

  • Pour and scrape the thick smoothie base into a wide, shallow bowl — the wider the bowl, the more surface area you have for toppings.
  • Immediately top with oat granola, fresh banana slices, and pumpkin seeds. Drizzle with almond butter if using, and finish with a pinch of cinnamon.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy with a spoon — this bowl waits for no one!

Notes

Storage: The blended base can be stored in a sealed container in the freezer for up to 24 hours. Thaw on the counter for 5 minutes and stir before adding toppings. Always add granola fresh.
Dairy-Free Option: Use a thick coconut yogurt or high-protein oat milk yogurt in place of Greek yogurt, and swap whey protein for a plant-based vanilla protein powder.
Protein Boost: For even more protein, add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or ground flaxseed to the base before blending — they blend invisibly and add omega-3 fatty acids and fiber.
Make it sweeter naturally: Opt for a very ripe, well-frozen banana for the most natural sweetness, reducing or eliminating the need for maple syrup.
