1/2teaspoononion powder
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
Prep the Mushrooms: Start by thoroughly cleaning the Chicken of the Woods mushrooms. Slice them into hearty strips, about 1/2 inch thick.
Set Up Your Breading Station: Arrange three bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs, and one with breadcrumbs. Mix the salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder into the flour.
Bread the Mushrooms: Coat each mushroom strip in the seasoned flour, then dip it into the eggs, and finally, roll it in the breadcrumbs until fully covered. Repeat for all strips.
Heat the Oil: Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet, about 1/2 inch deep, and heat over medium-high heat.
Fry to Perfection: Once the oil is hot, carefully place the breaded mushroom strips into the skillet. Fry them until they are golden brown and crispy, approximately 3-4 minutes per side. Avoid overcrowding the skillet to ensure even frying.
Drain and Enjoy: Transfer the fried mushrooms to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
